From the first day I arrived in the Illinois Senate, I've been an ardent supporter of the Second Amendment. When the US Supreme Court took up the landmark case of D.C. vs. Heller, I signed on to an amicus curiae brief, urging the court to declare once and for all that the Second Amendment protected the individual right to keep and bear arms. In the Illinois Senate, I've stood up to the Democratic leadership and to Chicago politicians, fighting to protect the rights of gun owners and sportsmen. My defense of our rights and heritage have led me to earn 3 consecutive A+ ratings from the NRA.
